My primary student base is ages 4-16. I also have several adult students where I teach advanced vocal performance. I have taught two different hour long group vocal classes twice a week, one for ages 3-6, and the other for 7-10 year olds. On average, I teach around 30 lessons a week, mostly 30/45 minute sessions, and several hour long sessions in addition to my group classes. I specialize in advanced vocal instruction and talent development. Read More

Depending on experience level I like to get people making music as soon as possible. I know that trudging through the basics can be tiring. Of course some basics are neccesary but I like to make the basics sound as musical as possible. We will cover the fundamentals but we'll do so in such a way that it won't feel like so much work. I like to use books, depending on skill level, for reference but I have a very hands on approach and feel that the best work to be done together is the stuff that can't be found in the book. As your teacher, my desire is to pass along my passion for music. Passing along my knowledge and helping you develop you skills is just one way to help you find your own passion for music. My lessons reflect this philosophy. I set realistic goals for every student every week. I have expectations for practice times and progression through my methods; however, I never get too bogged down in this. Read More

The first thing I do when teaching a student is to learn what musical goals and aspirations the student may have. Then, depending on age and experience, I build a custom program for the student, which may include using various books, resources, and even materials which I have created. I have found that this is not only the most effective way for me to teach but also the most effective way to connect with students where they are and for them to learn at their own pace while also enjoying the process. My teaching method varies depending on their age. From 4 years to 8 years i use an advance learning method, which consists of developing reading and playing based on color coding music notes. For people 9 and up the method i use is the traditional method from the Cuban and Spaniard school. This consists of developing the three characteristics of a musician. The first characteristic called Theory consists of the learning everything concerning music theory and the instrument. Read More

I always start with new students by assessing their level. For most beginner students, I introduce open chords and basic single note playing, eventually leading to chord progressions and basic classic rock riffs. Beyond this, I always tailor my teaching to a student's tastes, as I know the best way to engage a student and keep them excited is to show them how to play their favorite music! If and when students become interested, I love to incorporate music theory into my lessons, alongside the technical aspects of instrumental technique. Read More
