For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well. Versatile, skillful guitarist and a highly motivated, charismatic educator who feels at home in the classroom. Highly proficient in Ear Training, Music Theory, Music Technology, and Jazz Studies. Adept at creating impactful classroom presentations and thought provoking exercises to promote student engagement. Possesses strong communication skills to foster efficient and meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and administrators. Teaching history out of a textbook is one thing...teaching a student to hear the color of an altered dominant chord is a totally different beast. Read More

I began teaching informally while I was in high school, giving friends and family tips and impromptu lessons on basic musical concepts. This continued to develop as I went to college, forming long-term teaching relationships with a small studio of friends who were eager to learn. I also had a small studio in Hudson, NY, while I was living there. Since moving to Philadelphia I've taught around 25 students over the course of the last 10 years. Read More

My teaching experiance has been mainly one one one. I've never given group lessons mainly because you can't totally focus on the student when there are several people involved. The best teaching/learning situation is the individual lesson where the focus is on one person. All my lessons are with one individual. More than one creates distraction and breaks the contenuity of the learning experiance. My experiance has been with grade school students, College age, middle aged and also senior citizens. I approach my lessons with enthusiasm and acumen. We will work together at a rigorous yet achievable pace in order to progress on your instrument. I will connect instrumental methods with your own musical interests in order to engage and delight you in the material. We will track progress in a practice journal so that we can keep track of goals and progress. Lessons will combine instrumental technique with music theory, ear training, improvisation, and composition to become a well rounded and versatile musician. - Read More

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
