I got my Bachelor degree from Music College in 1985, and Master's Degree from Gnessin Academy of Music - 1990, Moscow, Russia. I have been teaching bass guitar for more than 20 years. When i began teaching bass it was a favor for a friend and I found out that I liked it! I began to give lessons to friends and family which transitioned into friends children, boy and girls clubs, and churches. As I grew as a bass player I became a full-time teacher helping people learn how to play bass guitar as the instrument requires. Read More

My teaching philosophy is: Music is inherently fun. My role as a teacher is to cultivate my student's initial musical spark and help my student learn what he or she wants while providing a basic musical foundation. By keeping music fun, students are more likely to learn more and challenge themselves. My style stems from this philosophy; I keep the music fun by focusing on what my students want to learn. I work on a case-to-case basis, having in mind the student's musical preferences, guiding them through the genre they want to play (even though of course, the basic music theory knowledge is the same for all of them), there will be students that just want to learn the basics of how to play simple songs, and there will be some that want a more integral guidance of the musical discipline. I began teaching privately in 1994 and my main focus is always on the student's growth. The gift of music was passed down to me through my mentors (some famous, some not) and I always vowed to do the same. I have a very diverse grasp of music and love to blend different genres together. I also love to help bring out the creativity in other people. It is a passion of mine. Read More

No matter where the student starts from, I always spend a significant amount of time in the first lesson discussing with them what they want to gain, what they are interested in, and how much time and effort they want to put into this endevor. It is important to me to understand the student so that I can cater to their needs and desires, and hopefully encourage them to continue playing music. Read More

I like working with students in a way where our love of music is the center of our attention, as such musicality is always the goal. For beginner students who’d like to sight-read, I like to start with the Alfred Modern Guitar Method 1 and supplement that with the Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method, Grade 1, or Frederick Noad’s Solo Guitar 1 if we’re learning classical guitar. Alternatively, if the student wishes to take a route in which he/she does not sight-read musical notation, I like to start with basic picking technique, proper guitar positioning, reading tabs and chord diagrams.
