If you are looking for a Classic teacher with classic teaching methods, you are looking in the wrong spot. I teach with an instant gratification method. You will still be just as skilled (if not more) as the rest of any other musicians out there but what you will have and develop is your own artistry and your own path as a musician. So many teaching styles try to make music more of a science rather than a passion. Read More

Nothing beats seeing one of my pupils acquire an interest in music! As a result, each student must proceed at their rate. At each lesson, I promote this by setting realistic goals for my pupils, either learning the most challenging parts of a song or just learning a simple phrase that was hard previously. Recognizing accomplishments fuels students' desire to advance and prepares them to learn more. By attempting to discover what motivates the student, I can appropriately personalize my training to their wants and needs. Read More

For my teaching goals I like to help my students learn the instrument from the basic fundamentals. I believe music is like building a house and it is important to start with fundamentals in order to construct a strong foundation for musical knowledge. I like to teach proper technique and playing standards so my students will learn correctly and not have to go back and relearn things and relearn their technique. Read More

For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. Read More

The way that music theory underlies all of these disciplines will help the intermediate student to gain a more comprehensive understanding of how their instrument and music in general works. I'm also able to teach total beginners, as well as advanced players. For beginners, I start with a book by Hal Leonard, which allows us to slowly master the basic fundamentals of guitar and music. Most beginning students are able to play through their first song within the first month or so of studying with more. Read More
