Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. As a starting musician, I personally would go with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements 2000. It is a great way to start the student because the book breaks how to learn how music in appropriate steps. As someone who is in junior high leading into high school, I love to use scales, smooth air movement, flexibility for band, scale fluency, chromatic scales, improve exercise, and performing tip exercises. Tommy has taught flute, clarinet, saxophone, and theory lessons to both beginning students and at the collegiate level.
