This includes instruction from Frances Blaisdell, of world fame as a flute instructor at Manhattan School of Music and Stanford University. I also attended the jazz studies program at Rutgers University with specific instruction from Ted Dunbar and Kenny Barron. I have been teaching woodwinds for over 40 years, in my private studio in my home. I teach all levels of flute, clarinet, and saxophone. I specialize in personalized lessons, gearing the lessons to the needs and aspirations of the student. I have degrees from Manhattan School of Music, Montclair State University, and New York University. The second and third are Masters Degrees. Every lesson includes some technical exercises and a musical piece. These will be solo pieces as well as duets, being that I can play along with the flute or the guitar. With more advanced students that already have found the love for their instrument, I focus on strengthening their weak points, be it technique, sound or interpretation. For every lesson I develop a lesson plan that organizes the lesson so there is no time wasted. As I get to know the student more, I develop a lesson plan specific to the student and work on the things that need work but as well as to keep the student motivated by performing and memorizing.
