I incorporate these by creating my own exercises for students according to their needs, and then applying these concepts to etudes and solo repertoire. While my main goal is to help improve the student's flute and musicianship skills, I also aim to nurture a life-long love of music. I received my Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. For beginning students I teach out of the Rubank Elementary Method books. These books are most comprehensive for beginning students. As the student progresses I begin introducing them to solo repertoire, scales studies, and jazz improvisation. My approach is much different with adult students. I ask them what are their musical goals and from there I can create a curriculum based on adult students needs and wants.
