For beginning students I teach out of the Rubank Elementary Method books. These books are most comprehensive for beginning students. As the student progresses I begin introducing them to solo repertoire, scales studies, and jazz improvisation. My approach is much different with adult students. I ask them what are their musical goals and from there I can create a curriculum based on adult students needs and wants. I began assisting teachers during high school for extra credit. It later became my job during Full Sail. I worked extensively with grades K-5 on reading, writing and math skills enrichment. When I graduated I started to see my joy was working with children and helping each individual get to their own "next level" and that is when I began teaching music privately. I encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals of which I help with the prep for and can conduct them there if need be.  Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my pre-college/ post high school days where I was a volunteer director of a community ensemble in Jamaica. This opportunity opened doors for me to teach music theory and private saxophone and flute lessons in a community based project that was geared towards using music for social development and change in the inner city youth. I eventually moved on to the college setting where I served as a Graduate Assistant who had the responsibility of providing private and supplemental lessons to students who were enrolled in the University, all while operating a private studio of my own. I create a hands on curriculum based on the students musical proficiency. Alongside this structured lesson plan, every student will receive training on proper practicing techniques which help build their sense of guidance, responsibility, and structure.
