During my 18 Yrs of teaching private lessons I’ve learned so much. I’ve grown as a person, performing musician and as a teacher. Music is very a rewarding passion, I strive to communicate my joy and desire to all of my students no matter the age, goals or instrument. Rock n roll was my first love but I studied classical and jazz at the university, along with musical theatre and orchestra gigs. Read More

For students of all ages, I like to lead with the quote from Marcel Moyse; "Practicing is a matter a time, patience and intelligent work", for I believe that once this is applied to the idea of practicing and general encounters with ones instrument, then success and progress is guaranteed. Aside from that principle, I like the idea of independent work from students to keep them accountable on the journey to becoming a musician but a more interactive and demonstrative approach during the lesson to give students an idea of what needs to be done while being that good role model so that they may keep motivated work hard at becoming the best possible musicians. I am a nurturer. I teach with caring, passion and support of all my students. It's not just enough show students how to play a note or read a rhythm, but how to use that knowledge in everyday life. I like to build a positive working relationship with my students. This way they look forward to their lesson, not only because they are comfortable around me, but because they are growing and learning about music and it's relationship to life. Read More

I have the most Experience using the following Method Books: Standard of Excellence, Essential Elements, Accent on Achievement, Instrumental Methods and many other methods. Initially (and throughout) I place a high value on performance fundamentals. I start with a focus on proper posture and breathing. Once this can be executed I breakdown the nomenclature of the student's instrument, how to put it together and break it down. Next the focus becomes proper grip for mallets/sticks and embouchure placement for winds. Read More
