I am primarily a percussionist, with over 10 years of expierience playing and performing in jazz bands, marching bands, musical theatre, small ensembles, wind ensembles, and symphonies, and I was the principle percussionist for 2 years while I was in college. I also have 5 years of expierience on the trumpet, 15 years of guitar, as well as expierience with many other instruments. I love to perform as well as teach, and I believe that classical and contemporary do not have to be at odds, and I work hard to incorporate both into my own performances as well as when I teach.  Read More

I always wanted to be an opera singer until I discovered vocal jazz. Now, I write music inspired by jazz theory (sort of) and sing and arrange jazz standards and pop tunes in ways that are the most interesting to me. I earned my Masters in Studio Music and Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music in 2017 and am currently writing and arranging songs for my premiere album. I'm a passionate music educator with considerable experience as a teacher and performer. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2005 where I studied music education with an emphasis on trombone. Since graduation, I have been fortunate to have many opportunities to conduct, perform, and teach music. I play a many different instruments and perform many different genres and styles. For beginning to students I like to have them learn their notes on the bass guitar first and foremost. Once we have become familiar with the neck of the bass we introduce Hal Leonards's Bass Method Book 1. This will build our foundation for learning to read time signatures, notes in bass clef, rhythms, as well as playing complete songs.
