I taught private guitar lessons continuously, while in highschool and college. In between engagements in my performing career, I would always return to teaching. In 1992 I was certified by Dr. L Scott Martin, Phd from Juilliard, to teach vocal performance at his Academy of the Arts in Denver, and I have continued to the present, to coach young singers to express themselves with music. I attended school at Valley Head High School in Valley Head, Alabama and attended college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have performed all over the country, and my musical arrangements, compositions, and marching drill design have been performed all over the world. I like to have my students progress to a point where they feel comfortable picking a song of their choice, transcribing it as accurately as possible, and playing it. For advanced students: there is no set structure for advanced students, as their requests and sets of strengths and weaknesses are so individually specific that I have to create a specific lesson plan for each student. Voice- Depending on how long the lesson is we work on vocal warmups then work on a song. In a 30 min lesson we do vocal warmups for 10 minutes then work on a song fir 20 minutes.Learning the proper vocal technique.
