I am just a musician and a teacher with a wide variety of skills and interests. Originally from Cuba where I was born and grew up, I went to the best music schools in Havana where I studied classical guitar and piano but my true development happened as an accompanist pianist to singers, bands and choirs. I have lived, taught and performed in Cuba, New York city, Jamaica, Miami, Canada and Buffalo NY. Read More

I encourage all my students to learn the basic rudiments of music including music theory, sight-reading and playing ‘by ear’. I recommend Mel Bay’s “Children’s Guitar Method” and Hal Leonard’s “Guitar Method Book 1” for school age children. However, many of my students have decided to concentrate on learning basic theory involving chords and scales to develop ability to play ‘by ear’. When working with voice students I focus on basic theory, breath control, and vocal scales to develop student’s ability to discern musical intervals. Read More

Teaching online has opened up a world of possibilities for connecting with students in a flexible, creative, and highly personalized way. My virtual lessons go far beyond a typical video callthey are crafted to be immersive, engaging, and deeply effective. I use professional audio and video equipment to ensure crystal-clear sound and multiple camera angles to demonstrate technique from every angle. Through screen sharing, digital sheet music, backing tracks, and interactive theory tools, students are able to grasp concepts visually and aurally in real-time. Read More

For beginning students, whether they are children or adults, I typically start with an introduction to main vocabulary words that will be used often during classes and a lesson in diaphragmatic breathing for singing. My classes are always tailored to each individual student, so on day one I like to spend a few minutes allowing my students to open up and tell me about their personal music goals, what drives their passion, who they look up to vocally, and what styles they would be most interested to hone in on.
