And for real technique there is no better book than the piano exercises by Rudolph Ganz , A book that works on the principle of the symmetry of the hands as explained by Chick Corea. Ganz's method is superior. He was the teacher of great pianists in America and to testify to his success , one of his students ,Dorothy Donegan, who became a Jazz pianist, was referred to by Art Tatum as "The only woman who can make me practice". I have a lot of passion for voice and I want my students to progress. In my own journey, it's taken years of daily practice to see real results and change. I push my students to practice daily for at least an hour and I give specific vocalizations that will help strengthen particular weaknesses in each voice. You will see results and I am one to always acknowledge progress! We will pick out appropriate repertoire that is both fun to sing and inspires passion for you to actually want to sing and practice. At Northwestern, it was my responsibility, on top of earning my degree, to teach lessons to non-music major students. These student came from all backgrounds and experience levels, and their fields of study included math, computer science, drama, and more. Along with my other students, who I've taught privately for years, they all made improvements in performance practice, musicianship, and, of course, their voices. The principles of singing are universal for every voice, and their so simple that adjustments are easy to make based on voice type, experience level, or any other factor. Read More

What makes me stand out from other piano instructors is that I use the Russian Piano-Schooling System approach. Playing piano is much more than just the action of fingers and hands. Teaching of the artistic image and musical intonation, not just mechanical repetition -- is what makes the Russian method so special and unique. My students are encouraged to deeply listen to the quality of the sound they produce, and to identify what needs to be done to improve it. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Music in the school system is taught backwards. If you're a beginner, you were put in a beginning class. this makes it very difficult for students to advance quickly because they aren't playing music with people who are more advanced than them. I make sure the students have the ability to play the instrument before they learn a ton of theory, because knowing how the wrritten form of music work without being able to play them is recipe for frustration.
