As students master the exercises new ones are assigned and worked on. Additionally, I assign repertoire that enables the student to work on the needed technical skills. In terms of repertoire selection, I always keep the student's interests in mind, but I always make sure that the student has one piece that has been carefully curated by me. Methods change depending on a student's level.  I want a beginner to feel completely comfortable being a beginner.  We start with the basics and I adjust material to personal levels of development.  If you have previous experience, we will use the first lesson to assess technique and repetorie and advance from there.  I am aware of several piano workbooks that take you from beginner to level four, these are not always the best for every student. Cello is my main instrument, but I have also been teaching piano, guitar, and violin for years. I love teaching and the variety of finding the approach that works best for each individual student. On a personal note, I was married in 2010 and had my first child, a boy, a year later. I live in Northfield but commute up to the Eden Prairie/Chanhassen area for lessons every Monday.
