The EEi feature allows students to access online features that coordinate with their private lessons and enhance their ability to learn. As students progress through the book, I add solo repertoire to the student's EEi account so they can both hear it played and record their own performance of each work of band music. Guitar students start with Essential Elements, piano students begin with Piano Adventures/Adult Piano Adventures, and both offer interactive online components which enhance the student's resources and ability to practice and learn between lessons. For me, enjoyment as well as developing proper, healthy technique is key. This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. However, I always like to meet students where they're at. If they want to learn how to play their favorite pop song on piano, or want to audition for their local theater's musical theater production, my priority will always be teaching in ways that the student feels is relevant to their goals and interests. During that time I was given the opportunities to sing with some wonderful groups including Kentucky Opera Chorus, Cardinal Singers, Early Music Ensemble, and Choral Arts Society.
