I begin with determining the objectives of my student. For example, a student may want to work on increasing his/her range, improving tone, learning techniques for a certain style, or may want to establish a repertoire of songs or “90-second cuts” for an audition. With that information, I design a program to meet these objectives. We proceed at a comfortable pace and monitor the goals and objectives often. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from George Mason University with a Master in Vocal Pedagogy and Bachelor of Music degree in piano and voice. I have the Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance at The Royal Conservatoire of Monaco. I was the Semi-Finalist of NATS, singing fluently in Italian, German, French, Latin and Korean. Performing all over the Northern Virginia and several states has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Performing Arts Concert Hall in Virginia, as well as music teacher as several performances as the principle director/pianist with Va Youth Orchestra. I help them find recitals and places that I can teach them songs to learn and the students have a chance to perform live places with me for holiday musicals and some of my concerts places locally as well. I believe everyone is equal and I treat everyone so. No one gets any special treatment I help all my students teach their full voice. The most satisfying moment as a teacher is when a student finally "gets it", and for students, I find that lessons are the most fun when the student feels capable and not overwhelmed. I like to challenge my students and encourage them to exceed even their own expectations of their abilities. With this in mind, my overall teaching philosophy emphasizes gaining technical mastery over the student's chosen instrument, strong music reading and theory skills, along with creativity and improvisation to turn them into well rounded players who can hold their own in just about any music setting from the stage to the studio. Korean-American tenor Sammy Huh is an accomplished performer and teacher based in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He has received praise for his “delectable top notes” (DC Metro Theatre Arts) and a voice described as “powerful . . . conjuring up an extraordinarily delicate sweetness” (Communities Digital News).
