I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice. During that time I was given the opportunities to sing with some wonderful groups including Kentucky Opera Chorus, Cardinal Singers, Early Music Ensemble, and Choral Arts Society. Since moving to Colorado in 2016, I have sang with multiple quartets and ensembles, including St Martin's Chamber Choir, Gaudium Verum, Anima Chamber Ensemble as well as continuing to teach music in an individual and/or choral setting. Learning proper vocal technique- Breathing, Posture, Positioning your mouth and tongue correctly, Music and facial expressions. Voice lessons we do 10 min of vocal warmups and 20 min of songs. Vocal warmups are for basic technique.I try to have my students sing a variety of music but most common among my students is Musical theatre and pop. I make sure to first introduce my students musical fundamentals, then progress to repertoire that is appropriate for the students' age and skill level. I scaffold learning concepts and sequence them so that students can confidently progress from one level to another. Music theory is woven into my teaching methods, strengthening students' understanding of their instrument. For piano, I like to teach from the Faber Piano Adventures books. I began teaching voice as a school project when I was 14 years old and realized that I I loved it! From then on, I always kept my hand in teaching throughout my high school and college years. I started teaching full time, at which point I added piano and speaking to my repertoire. I have experience as a performing singer, session musician and actor and I I love helping my students get the most out their lessons, whether they simply want to learn their instrument to the best of their ability, or learn more about writing music and the industry. I started performing music at age 14, and quickly move on to semi-pro and professional status, performing pop, rock, country, folk, and more in various bands and performing groups. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Theater, I joined the cast of Up With People and began a world concert tour, performing on awesome stages, such as the Royal Albert Hall in London. In my piano classes I use the Bastien piano method beginning at the primer level for the children. If they have had previous lessons, I am more than willing to continue with their current method. For adult piano students I use the Older Beginner Piano Course by Bastien. Again, if they wish to continue with previously studied materials, I am more than happy to comply with that.
