This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. For beginning voice I start with the fundamentals and breathing techniques. For beginning Clarinet lessons I start with the basics and fundamentals from assembling and disassembling the instrument along with proper cleaning, Storage and proper placement of fingers for playing and basic breathing techniques. In my piano classes I use the Bastien piano method beginning at the primer level for the children. If they have had previous lessons, I am more than willing to continue with their current method. For adult piano students I use the Older Beginner Piano Course by Bastien. Again, if they wish to continue with previously studied materials, I am more than happy to comply with that.
