My approach as a teacher is to see what the voice is already doing and improve on the foundation that we already have. All music-making is positive music-making. My students love that I laugh and chat with them during our lessons. I primarily teach Musical theater and characterization, but I can also teach classical music and diction (languages). I believe that style, voice phenomenons, language/diction, artistic innovation, decision-making, characterization, and active choice-making are the best ways to get someone to make great music. I'm very passionate about teaching and love to work with all ages of students. I had a studio in Mountain Top, PA for 25 years until our family moved to Utah. I recently relocated to the Lehigh Valley. I've performed with many orchestras and have coached many students to be able to compete and perform at Carnegie Hall for many years. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop and hone their skills! I am extremely hands on and I listen very intently during my sessions. I have a great "ear" which is my best asset. I encourage each student to progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by maintaining a stress free environment. Because the voice is not as concrete as instruments, I do not use a specific, rigid method. Every voice is unique to the person. I create individual lessons plans for each student, and I tailor the exercises to the needs of that particular student. I believe that singing is the most beautiful and human thing we can do as musicians, and following one rigid method, in my opinion, does not motivate singers. Read More

My teaching style consists of setting realistic short term and long term goals for my students. I always make sure my students understand the material I am showing them. I encourage them to challenge themselves to achieve their goals they never thought they could achieve. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
