I began teaching general music 12 years ago by presenting 45-minute programs for ages 3 yrs-14 yrs at numerous public schools in the Greater Boston Area in partnership with From the Top. These presentations had a vast range of topics and activities. With a class of 4th graders, I helped the students express their daily routine by writing and performing their own piece of music. For beginning students who are children. I typically start with Suzuki Violin Book or Hal Leonard's Essential elements. Once the students has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce some repertoire they can perform. For adults, I try to find out what music the students are interested in and as teaching basic skills, I will teach music what they would like to perform. Teaching is my passion and calling, i can't think of doing anything else! In 2013 I graduated from Fairfield University with a triple major in English, Gender Studies, and Violin Performance. While studying at University I started my band with my sister, Verdigrls. We have gone on to put out an EP, play all over the NY metropolitan area as well as have our music featured in movies and television. I understand some student may not have much time to practice, so I encourage as long as you practice even once or twice per week , set a short goal even one line two lines on the music or couple of bars, progress little and slow but practice on the right way, building right correct position and get used of it still helpful then nothing or some incorrect habit.
