My teaching experience goes back as far as high school when I started volunteering to teach violin lessons to younger students. In my college years, I taught as part of Oberlin Conservatory's secondary lessons program in addition to teaching members of the Oberlin community of different ages and levels. Currently, I maintain private studios in multiple locations as an addition to my Musika students. My teaching experience as a violin instructor and educator has given me the chance to grow through my students' achievements and has transformed my life in a positive way. Read More

My story in the music begins with the study of Venezuelan folk music. Later, as a violist, I was a founding member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra "Raimundo Pereira" (One of the Orchestras of "The Sistema") in Venezuela. I studied lyrical and popular song with Masters William Alvarado and Inés Feo La Cruz. I have two records production, the first, named Por el Medio Oriente, it is a musical project that fuses the sounds and rhythms prevalent in Middle Eastern music and culture and the second named Preludio y Coda, a romantic CD. For beginning students who are children, I usually would like to encourage them starts to play with little simple songs, likes many of songs they already can singing with. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I’ve been teaching private lessons for about 6 years. Some of my favorite teaching experiences have been from my time in Tanzania, where I have been a music teacher every summer since 2016. I’ve taught students as young as 4 years old- I think it’s never to early to introduce the joys of music making to a child! I want my students to have fun and be able to be inspired to learn and create. I know that everyone learns their way and I do believe myself accommodating and understanding. Learning to read, write, and play music is essentially learning another language and having taught languages for several years, I know people move at different paces. Students has different interest regarding to music. Some of them take it seriously and want to achieve big. Others love music and want to have fun. So I use different approaches according their expectation and personality. I think of how to sound better with my music all the time. With given time, I have developed a unique understanding of practicing, performing and approaching. Also performing in concerts gives them goals to work for so I try to have my students to perform at some assisted living places and more several times a year and the more they perform usually the better they improve. It can be encouraging to see that others make mistakes too and that noone is perfect. I like students to learn how to read as soon as they can, but I honor the suzuki idea that it is good to learn to play the first few pieces by ear so listening does not get lost in learning to read.
