After receiving my degree in 2000, my first job was in the public school system in Bridgeton, NJ. I was brought in to build the orchestra program from scratch. I was in charge of selecting instruments and supplies to be purchased for the district as well as write the curriculum. I first began teaching in High School, by providing extra tutoring sessions to some my instructor's other younger students. This provided me with a great opportunity to develop my approach for teaching strong fundamentals in a fun way with beginners and younger students. Growing up in the New York public school system, I was a part of the annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) music festivals. Participation in these festivals involves performing a solo audition, which then grants access to perform with the All-County and All-State orchestras. Read More

I use String Builder, Essential Elements, etudes, technical studies for each instrument and Suzuki Methods for strings and essential elements for clarinet. I emphasize good posture, holding the instrument and bow properly and correct finger placement. Also learning to play scales and music to prepare for auditions and a recital. I also teach students music theory and sight reading and assist with orchestral music. I feel that nothing is more rewarding than seeing that my student has learned something and from that, develops a passion for music. I try to keep each student's progress at their own pace by setting and keeping realistic goals for my students at their lessons. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a beginner method such as Essential Elements or Sound Innovations. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
