It is my utmost pleasure to share and teach my experiences in music to students. In my years of teaching music, I have learned that I acquire just as much knowledge in music as my student does from me. I was raised in a classically-oriented teaching style in piano. Though unpopular to my peers at the time, I had an appreciation for classical music that motivated me to learn new pieces and methods in a classical sense. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons for over 7 years, and have been studying music since I was in early grade school, 6 years old. I have played with a wide range of orchestras chamber ensembles bands, and more. I have been writing music for about ten years now. Currently I study music at The City College of New York, where I am about to graduate. I spend a great deal of time working on writing music, recording producing and incorporating a wide variety of instruments. Read More

For younger students I like to give them weekly practice charts so they can see how much work they're putting in. If they complete enough practice charts, they get a reward. I find this is very helpful in the beginning stages of learning for younger musicians. For older students, I really nudge them to take auditions for a higher seat at school, or depending on how serious they are for youth orchestras and summer programs. Read More

For beginners who are children, I start with the essential Suzuki method which includes a focus on musical listening imitation, parental involvement (at very young ages) and creating an effortless technique. The Suzuki books are great in that they provide a great foundation and an extremely logical progression for taking students from complete beginners to an advanced level. For advanced students, we can branch out into a wide variety of classical concertos or other repertoire (this happens around Suzuki book 6) I love to teach adults, and I try to structure my teaching in accordance with adult students' goals and interests. The methods I use always dependents on that student. Everyone learns in different ways making it so important to cater to each students needs. I strive to creating a lesson plan specific for that student. I find by doing so that they are more passionate and progress much faster. I like to focus on learning technique, ear training, and theory through many styles, as well as explore different kinds of music. Read More

With my students, I always try to find what they want to achieve and tailor my lessons towards that. I always love seeing my students improve and teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs. I set weekly goals for my students, and keep track of their progress in personal journals. Each student is different, and progress will vary from student to student. It is my job to make sure the student is always challenged and strives to do their best. Read More
