I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! I try to customize my teaching style based on what I observe each student needs. Some are visual learnings, in which case I do lots of demonstrating on my own violin. Other students respond very well to imagery, and listening to their own imagination/instincts. Some students need more systemic discipline, others require more freedom and nurturing. It's important that each student develops at their own natural pace, and I try to give a clear schedule/plan for each student's practicing at the end of every lesson. Read More

Although I specialize in violin performance and pedagogy, I have also spent a significant amount of time teaching piano, music theory, and harmony. I believe that consistent practice, alongside warm encouragement and motivation is the key to any kind of success when teaching music. Over the years, I have learned that teaching violin and music does not have to be done solely on the instrument, and I like to spend time developing a strong sense of harmony and rhythm by playing small practice games throughout a lesson- especially with children. I believe in the importance of holistic music pedagogy for students at every level. Musicianship requires technical proficiency, music theory training, music history study, and creativity. I prefer to craft unique courses of study for each of my students rather than using popular, one-size-fits-all approaches, such as the Suzuki Method. Though many of these methods have valuable pedagogical insights, I hope my students can have a deep engagement with music, art and creativity that goes beyond technical mastery, a goal that requires a greater flexibility than such methods provide.
