I am a violinist of 15 years and have been teaching since 2014. I received my BA in an unrelated field in 2017, but incorporated music into a number of courses and assignments. I took private lessons in 2015, from 2008-2010, and from 2004-2006. I have soloed with Rainbow City Orchestra (for whom I served as Concertmaster from 2011-2015), Issaquah Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Edmonds-Woodway High School Chamber and Symphony Orchestras. I do my best to make lessons fun and interesting for each student by tailoring the lessons to their needs and interests - in addition to classical music I am happy to incoporate music from other genres too. So Im very conscious of how my students are feeling and noticing the difference between the need for instructive support and the need for encouragement. I focus on posture, theory, and intonation, and once these basics are mastered, the sky's the limit! I've taught a variety of classical music, fiddle music, popular and Disney music, even rock and roll. The thing to remember is that every musical experience will teach a student something, so once we have the basics down, students really get to choose their music that they want to play. I have been teaching since 2008 and have felt very blessed to see students develop a love for their instrument and music. I began as a junior instructor with a group of teachers who taught different instruments, where students had the opportunity to play in a band setting.
