I was born in Marshall, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've spent seven years in public schools in the surrounding Houston area before coming on to teach with KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2012. My primary instrument is violin/viola under the training of Dr. Isidor Saslav, but spend my weekends on bass for community events and local performances. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Instruments: Violin Electric Violin Fiddle

As a teacher, I am invested in the success of each of my students. I work with them to assess their unique strengths and weaknesses, and I build a lesson plan to help them achieve their individual goals. I believe that studying music should be both fun and rewarding, so I strive to encourage and motivate my students in each lesson. While I know that not every student will become a professional violinist, I hope my lessons will inspire a lifelong appreciation of music that will enrich my students for the rest of their lives. Instruments: Voice Violin Viola Fiddle

I've performed in several orchestras at the college level and competed in a variety of fiddle contests throughout the state of Texas, most recently the Fiddler's Frolics in Hallettsville, Texas. I have been a volunteer after-school violin instructor in the Houston Independent School District (Roosevelt Elementary, Gallegos Elementary, and Martinez Elementary) and local Jewish community centers. I'm also very active in the Houston opera and theater communities and have performed in nearly a dozen productions in the area, often in small accompanying orchestras and as a soprano and/or actress. I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on. Instruments: Violin Viola

I has been immersed in the wonderful world of music since 2009. I started my studies at the Conservatorium of Music of Carabobo, where I learned about music theory, harmony and history of music. There I began to fall in love with sounds, especially the sounds of bowed string instruments and started to learn Viola and Violin. Thus developing different kind of musical works, both classical and cultural, I had the opportunity to perform and be part of several Symphonic Orchestras and groups to play different types of repertoire and musical genre.
