A violinist since age six, I initially majored in violin performance and later music education at Wichita State University, where I performed in the Wichita State University Symphony Orchestra. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Colorado; my Master’s degree in music from Colorado State University and my Doctorate in Orchestra conducting from the University of South Carolina. I am a native of Pueblo, CO and grew up playing cello, first in the Pueblo Youth Symphony and latter with the Pueblo Symphony, Mozart Chamber Orchestra and Pueblo Jazz Orchestra. I am a musician originally from Mexico, I have performed in Latin america and Europe. I am currently Principal viola with Symphony of the Americas and part of the Con Brio Quartet. Besides teaching and performing in orchestra I am also very active as a recitalist and chamber musician.
