I like to find out why my students are interested in playing music. This helps me to create a lesson plan for each individual one. I like to start out teaching using Alfred's beginner books, and progress from there. Each student learns at a different pace, so I base my lessons off of their progress. In my teaching method, I am creating a custom plan for every single student. With beginner students, I am starting from the fundamentals and using books: Essential Elements, Suzuki Book 12, one and two octaves scales and etudes by Kreutzer, Wohlfahrt, and Mazas. For all of my students, I am always trying to find the repertoire that they would enjoy to practice. I taught private violin lessons in college through the IUP String Project, where I learned a lot about the Suzuki Method of teaching. I have 11 years of experience directing orchestra and teaching lessons to students in grades 4-12. I have taught beginning students all the way up to advanced, and many of my students have advanced to PMEA District and Region orchestra festivals.
