Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will introduce solo repertoire suited for his or her first recital performance. I think the violin is very special. It’s such a difficult instrument that requires lots of commitment and dedication. For 2 to 4 year old students, I use Mozart mouse series. For 4 to 6 years old students, I usually use Faber series and older students, I like to use Basien series. For violin, I start with Suzuki method and as they progress I add wolfhart, scale and solos for young violinists by barber. Since graduating from college, I have continued with my private studio in additional to expanding my work with local public schools and youth choirs. Once the student has progressed and appears to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo pieces. I also teach students elementary music theory related to the pieces they are learning. For advanced students, I focus more on their technique and performance.
