Once Student slightly progressed, I will begin to start shop pieces with another finger technique etude, to building stronger and solid finger and also I would recommend some music repertories to listen to it, just for building music expression. I am trained in both classical and jazz technique, and my music integrates a high level of precision with creative approaches like improvisation. I like to focus on intonation heavily, as anything other than excellent intonation is not good playing, in the words of a former instructor. While practicing and drilling is definitely a part of learning, it is not the end-all be-all. Music needs to be enjoyed for what it is - fun!
