Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. The reason I like the Accent of Achievement method book series is because it is not intimidating for kids to look at as beginners. Due to my experience working with multiple grade/age levels, I have learned to carefully fine tune my teaching strategy for each individual student that I work with. At the beginner level I typically work from method books to ensure a solid development of performance fundamentals. I also like to spend a good bit of time establishing successful warm-up and practice routines. I want to be encouraging to my students in a way that makes them want to continue music. When students get older they have more opportunities to participate in other activities and it is important to instill that love of music within them. My brass teaching method is based on correct breathing, posture and tone development. I believe a beautiful tone is the most important product we have to offer. Embouchure development comes with careful, purposeful practice in all ranges and at all dynamic levels. I also emphasize sight reading as an aid to becoming a well-rounded musician.
