I like to start with the basics. Its important to let the student gain confidence in their instrument. So I start with very simple task that would be easy to do while I'm present so if they have any questions I can answer. I also do everything in three's...if we are working on the C scale and we get it correct I like to do it three time straight for memory. Read More

About me? Well I'm a driven man who works hard and will work harder to see my students succeed. I started playing the trumpet in middle school and fell in love with the instrument. I have been playing trumpet for over 10 years, and have been teaching various students for over 5 years. I grew up in St. Louis, where I studied with musicians in the St. Louis Symphony. During high school, I was selected for competitive music festivals, ranging from Brevard to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Orchestra program. For my bachelors, I attended Northwestern University, where I have studied with famous orchestral players, such as Robert Sullivan, who played in the New York Philharmonic and Cincinnati Orchestra. I focus particularly on comfort adn compassion on my lessons. I always want to help students develop and discover their own most efficient way of learning. I check in with students regularly before, during and after lessons to make sure I am tailoring the lesson to their needs as much as possible. I believe in positive reinforcement, and if my students aren't practicing, I need to make my lessons more engaging! Read More

So following a brief historical lesson we get into how to start playing that instrument. Also why I love to play that instrument and why I'm playing it with passion. I start teaching with basic scales or vocal warm-ups. Read More
