I use the method created by Adolf Herseth (Principle trumpeter in the Chicago Symphony for 50 years). I learned this method from William Fielder at Rutgers. This concept is based on using air as the primary energy source for producing sound. We will work on strengthening the breathing apparatus to be able to produce a pure clear tone that is without distortion. I use Rubank methoh books for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I will introduce material from the Arbans method when students have reached a desired level. In addition, I'll find material in the genre that is exciting to the student but also develops their skills and techniques on the instrument. I create individual lessons and goals for each student based what needs to be improved, and what inspires them to practice and get better I am a strong believer in proper techniques, and that they can be obtained simulataneously while studying many genres of music.
