I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory. For beginning students who are children, I have a range of beginner method books that I like to choose from. I pick the one that suits the childs' needs the best, based on how the first few lessons go. We will then progress through the books and introduce supplemental materials, such as solo repertoire and other extras, once the student shows positive progress. My teaching style is one that is not used much at beginning levels but for me, that's why it works. Teaching a young student how to play the instrument by sound and not by reading notes allows them to use their imagination while playing. When students figure out for themselves, that is when the best kind of learning happens. First its the posture method and focus control which basically is meditation applied in the musical field and the right synchronization with the tongue and breathe. the next method(s) is focusing on the students embouchure. then i like the yamaha book for starters and a couple other good books. I also like to spend some lessons just working on sound and free lancing as well as other lessons dedicated to sight reading, musical phrasing, articulation, styles of music...ect...I also have days where we have music appreciation by taking them on trips.
