If you are looking to play a style of music but you don't know how to incorporate what you may have previously learned into that style of music, I will automatically show you how you can play piano in that style of music. Once you feel you have a better understanding of what that style of music wants you to play on piano, you will practice on your own and get a better feel for it and you will become a master in that genre, and on the piano in general. Instruments: Trumpet Trombone

I am a fundamentals oriented brass instructor who works hard to give students the technical abilities and understandings that they need in order to express themselves musically. I graduated from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers New Brunswick in January of 2018 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. I spent my time at Rutgers collecting as much performance experience and brass pedagogy as possible in order to improve my own playing as well as my teaching. Read More

My instruction is tailored to the specific musical goals and needs of the individual student, however, a students progression is paced by the individual. A significant aspect of my teaching style is my understanding of the various ways in which people learn and the vast amount of tools I utilize to impart information. The balanced acknowledgement of a students strengths and weakness tends to encourage their desire to progress, while setting attainable goals can motivate that process to result continuously. Instruments: Piano Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Drums

My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Read More

For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. For trumpet students I initially provide my own material, based on the exercises which I have found to be beneficial in my own playing. Early on, I'll ask most students to play a recording of one of their favorite songs, which we'll use to improvise to as well as for ear-training purposes. As soon as the student has learned enough notes, we'll begin playing songs. I firmly believe that developing a good sense of a singing style is the foundation for good playing. Read More
