I believe fundamentals are extremely important so in addition to level/age appropriate etude books, I like to incorporate technical exercises which develop different aspects of playing. I have also had great success in preparing students for NYSSMA solo festivals. I am happy to provide extra help on school music including jazz ensemble, band music for concerts, playing tests, auditions, etc. Read More

I have been fortunate enough in my young career to have performed across the world in countries including the U.S., Sweden, Germany, England, Scotland, and Canada. I have even had the opportunity to tour to NYC with the Eastman Philharmonia and Renee Fleming to Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center. During my time as a freelancer in London and Boston, I have performed with a variety of ensembles ranging from brass bands, mixed brass ensembles, chamber orchestra, contemporary chamber ensembles, and full orchestra. For a young child to love music, a teacher must introduce it to him or her in a passionate way, without forcing it one the child. The struggling student is just as capable of loving music, just as much as the accomplished one. As I mentioned earlier, all students learn at different paces, so I teach each student as close as humanly possible to their level. It is not important for a child to play like a professional musician, but to play like the student has put his or her heart into learning the music. Read More

I believe that no two students are alike; for each of my students, I create an individual, custom-tailored plan and routine to help solve the most challenging issues in their playing. I advise my students to keep a practice log and write down everything they accomplish and challenges they notice in a practice session. What went well? What didn't go so well? Writing things down provides us with a timeline of progression to see what works and what doesn’t. Read More

I have been teaching since the year 2000, and currently maintain a diverse studio of 10-20 students ranging in age from elementary school to mid-50s. My mission is to help students clearly define their goals in music-making, and lay out a plan to accomplish those goals. Competitions and recitals are strictly optional--there is no pressure here. I love watching my students grow and see them taking pride in their accomplishments. I believe that passion is the key to continuous and curiosity-based learning. I make sure the student is enjoying the lessons by allowing each student to go at their own pace and by setting small goals to achieve during each session. Doing this allows the student to objectively see their progress and as a result gives them more motivation to set higher goals for themselves and to be the best musician they can be. Read More
