In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy. I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians. My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively. In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials to cater to the students needs. For young beginners, I recommend the KJOS Standard of Excellence book. Read More

I have also completed 6 semesters of service as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I taught multiple playing ensembles as well as 3 semesters of a 100+ student History of Jazz lecture class for non-majors. I began teaching trombone and improvisation when I was a junior in High School. Currently I am adept in Singing, Music Theory, Trombone, Bass (-classical) and Electronic Music, but I also practice Flute, Piano, Guitar,Percussion (congas) and Tap Dancing. I have been told that I have a very unconventional teaching style, but I prefer to call it simplicity. Patience is a virtue that I cherish, but I am also very persistent in teaching the ultimate realization to my student. Read More

The best lesson I learned before attending college, my trumpet teacher taught me, "If you sound good while practicing, you're not really practicing", which I make sure to mention multiple times. I never try to overload my students with too much material, but instead try to understand what they would like to learn, and develop lessons and exercises from that. Brass instruments require commitment, and although difficult, playing should seem fun, instead of a chore. Read More

When I'm working with a student, I want to know everything I can about them as a person; this will inform their growth as a musician, artist and music lover. I am to set realistic expectations for my students, aiming not to frustrate but to celebrate every step taken. In the end, if students can teach themselves and want to learn more about their instrument or any sort of music, I feel like I've done my job. Read More

I'm a dedicated musician and instructor eager to develop ones musical abilities. Prior to attending the John J. Cali School of Music, I began performing throughout the tri-state area as a hired musician. While immersed in the multiple ensembles offered at school, I would also be involved in studio recording sessions, hired by artists and composers of various genres. After my time at the school of music, I have been awarded various opportunities that have allowed me to travel and perform around the world. Read More
