I am passionate about sharing the knowledge I have gained throughout my musical life from performing with Buddy Rich and Lionel Hampton to playing in Broadway pit bands. I believe its very important to teach the fundamentals as well as learning the freedom to improvise in any style which can be taught at the same time. I have 40 CDs released as leader or co-leader and over 100 releases as a sideman.
I am an enthusiatic and personable teacher with experience spanning 3 decades and 2 continents. I graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where I was a student of Anthony Marchione (former Principal Trumpet with the Columbia Symphony, and teacher of Randy Brecker and Lee Morgan). In the classical field, I have worked directly with Leonard Bernstein on the Broadway show "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" and have served as Principal Trumpet with the Colorado Philharmonic, the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Orchestra Brass Quintet. In the commercial field, I have played trumpet for entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Steve Lawrence & Edi Gorme,Michel Legrand, Nancy Wilson, Lena Horne, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr, Diana Ross, The Spinners, The Temptations, and others. My passion and practical experience in the music field make me well suited to guide students of all ages and help them to enjoy learning music at all levels and styles. My teaching studio is a large, open and finished space - well suited accoustically to hearing ones true sound (important for development) and is complete with audio and video systems to aid in teaching through illustration as needed. The student will feel relaxed, focused and "at home" in this space.
I am extremely passionate about all styles of music and helping others build on their own innate musical abilities! Originally from Rhode Island, I began learning the piano and trombone at a very young age. Throughout high school I was presented with many amazing musical opportunities such as being selected for the All Eastern Honors Band. I attended Ithaca College where I graduated with two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Music Education and Trombone Performance. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York where I teach music and perform regularly with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony, Metropolitan Quintet, and many other funk, reggae, afrobeat, jazz, and rock groups.
I received a Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory, a Master of Music from University of Maryland and an Advanced Certificate from Queens College. I am a certified K-12 music teacher. In addition, I have extensive performance experience in a variety of settings.
I am motivated teaher with 40 years of teaching experience in instrumental music as well as church choirs and concerts. I studied with the best pro. tuba players in NY in college from the Metropolitan Opera and American Symphony. I have performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Rose Parade, and on live radio WQXR in New York. I currently am the low brass teacher at a local Community College (2002-present) and the tuba instructor at another College (2011-present). I have played the trumpet and tuba for over 50 years.

There are different types of trumpets usually categorized as student, intermediate, and professional models. Most of the time, student trumpets are appropriate for beginning players. The pieces included in a trumpet are the rim, the cup, the mouthpiece, the shank, the lead pipe, the valve, and the valve casings. When purchasing a trumpet, it is important to visit a music store or speak with a trumpet expert to make sure you get the best value and the highest quality instrument for your budget. A large majority of students may choose to rent their instrument before purchasing. If you decide to go this route, you will need to purchase your own mouthpiece to use with the trumpet.
Children generally begin to learn the trumpet at age 8 or 9. We suggest this age, because the student needs to be able to hold the instrument correctly and support its weight. The student's fingers need to be the right size to play instrument, and the child needs to have enough lung capacity to support the sound of this instrument.
The teachers in our network create custom lesson plans for each student studying the trumpet. Trumpet lessons are useful for many students taking band during school. They will focus on how to preparing the instrument for playing, holding the trumpet, playing the valves, reading music as well as common musical styles which use the trumpet.
Taking trumpet lessons in your home offers a great way to master your skills on the instrument in a comfortable and familiar setting, Many students and parents find this very convenient as there is no additional time for travel.
We love adult students! We have adults who begin trumpet lessons as complete beginners, some who haven't played their trumpet in over 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. The teachers in our network have proven methods to get you the results you desire.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

Martina has been a great teacher. Our son is 8 and had taken some piano lessons before starting with Martina. She came right in and got him to improve. She does a great job of giving him just enough of a challenge to make him work and learn but not any pieces that are so overwhelming he can't get them. She has helped him through a lot of early music theory so that he not only can play the piano but understands the music he is reading in all of its complexity.

“My son has been instructed by Mark for almost four years. Mark is an outstanding teacher. His credentials are by themselves impressive, but his ability to relate his knowledge to kids is even more so. Connor's ability to understand and read music is fantastic. Mark also knows the performance side of playing drums and has encouraged Connor to actually incorporate his knowledge to play alone and in a band. He is patient and encouraging which is what motivates Connor to work and practice. He is a mentor as well as a teacher. He is superior at what he does and we highly recommend him.” Ro J.

There are only a handful of people I count in my life who were great teachers, and Laura is one of them. Her musicianship is so secure as are her technique and personality that she zeros in on my weaknesses and devises exercises to strengthen them, and during the lesson it is not "Do this, no, do that" which is unnerving to a novice. She understands the most important part of study is relaxation, so that is easy to achieve with such a confident and compassionate human. Music is her life and she is eager to share her talent with everyone. A rare find, indeed!

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passionate about music, he encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxophone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

"Richard is a very talented and a patient teacher. He teaches my 6 year old daughter in the comfort of our home and he is very regular. He follows a learning book and mixes his lessons to bring difficulty and technicality while keeping it interesting for my daughter. My daughter was difficult to work with at the beginning but he was able motivate her in every possible way. As a parent I make an effort to learn with my daughter so that when my daughter practices I am able to guide and correct her and Richard is very generous to take the time to give provide me concepts. I am extremely happy with Richard and his ability to teach children."

I really like her. And as an adult student, a good teacher who keeps the pace up but still keeps it reasonable in terms of difficulty is really hard to find. She does a great job of explaining little detail things in terms I (as a musically challenged human) can understand. I'm having a blast! 10/10 would recommend!

Omar is a great teacher as he provides expert instruction AND the right amount of encouragement. He is a professional musician on several instruments, yet he is patient with beginners! He also has gone out of his way to purchase an appropriate book for me, strings to re-string the cello, and extra attention to tuning. I appreciate how he explains and demonstrates exactly what a beginning cello student needs to know.

Steve gets you started right away with songs but also goes into music theory and reading music which adds to understanding and appreciation of the music. He is very approachable and you can tell that he absolutely loves music and teaching. It is hard not to be excited about the process of learning with Steve. If you are considering lessons I highly recommend Steve for any level of student.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
