I love to see students grasp concepts.  It is extremely rewarding to see students understand a concept and be able to explain how neat it is to a parent or friend.  When I get a new student, I get to know exactly what their goals are.  We set long term goals, and we make progress by setting manageable short term goals every week.  I inspire the student to reach their goals by providing tools to help, and custom lesson plans that are fun and engaging. My lessons also teach grit. Grit is important for any career path your student will ultimately achieve. Students learn to be self sufficient and depend on their practicing. Practicing an instrument independently develops patience and intrinsic motivation.

I began teaching trumpet privately during my senior year of high school after I decided that I wanted to be a music teacher. Since then, I've taught students privately from as young as six to as young as sixty on the french horn, clarinet, alto saxophone, and piano. I have also taught students with special needs and motor disabilities. I really do believe that I have made a positive impact on all of my students. I think it's just as important to have a great time as it is to experience a music education. I do encourage my students to participate in NYSSMA festivals and other solo festivals. It's an amazing opportunity and experience!

My love for music began when I first started taking piano lessons at the age of seven. I developed a strong interest in making music and played the trumpet and piano throughout my school years, performing with the symphonic, graduation, and jazz bands. I studied music performance and technology at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, where I took advanced lessons in the piano and trumpet as well as learned recording and production techniques. I performed with several bands in my undergraduate years and have graduated with a BA in music technology and a stronger passion for helping others discover the gift of music.

For a young child to love music, a teacher must introduce it to him or her in a passionate way, without forcing it one the child. The struggling student is just as capable of loving music, just as much as the accomplished one. As I mentioned earlier, all students learn at different paces, so I teach each student as close as humanly possible to their level. It is not important for a child to play like a professional musician, but to play like the student has put his or her heart into learning the music. This is what I love above about teaching music.
