I received my B.M.E. in Music Education from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, where I co-founded Steel Tuba/Euphonium Quartet. I received myM.M. in Euphonium Performance from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There I was a member of the award winning Alabama Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble and the Alabama Wind Ensemble. These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do. For beginning students who are just picking up the horn, we focus on the very basics on how to make noises on it. Once they understand how it make sounds, we slow work on refining and controlling so we can actually learn to play! Older and more experienced students will learn how to make Music, not just playing the notes on the page. I have been teaching private lessons at Northside Christian School for almost 2 full years at this point, and have been helping out during marching band season every year since 2017. During the first part of 2021, I have also substituted for jazz instructor during the school year of Tarpon Springs High School, and while there I have taught more students on jazz improvisation as well as fundamentals on the trombone.
