My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! I love to see students grasp concepts.  It is extremely rewarding to see students understand a concept and be able to explain how neat it is to a parent or friend.  When I get a new student, I get to know exactly what their goals are.  We set long term goals, and we make progress by setting manageable short term goals every week.  I inspire the student to reach their goals by providing tools to help, and custom lesson plans that are fun and engaging. In between these large ensembles, I participated in frequent performances with my brass quartet and brass quintet, including a recital that featured the premiere of new works. I also spent two semesters learning the baroque trumpet with Dr. Kris Kwapis during this time, deepening my admiration and appreciation for the music written during this period. After graduating with a B.M. in Trumpet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music in 2023, I have recently begun studying under the tutelage of Professor Billy Hunter at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City to pursue my Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance. I make a plan with my students that allows me to tailor each lesson to their needs. I enjoy making sure students can see their true potential while also making sure they can advance. I have been teaching trumpet, improvisation and theory for ten years and have worked with students from beginner to professional level. I have taught private students, clinics, summer workshops and full band classes. I have worked with the Juilliard Outreach Program, Yamaha Canada, the Sterling Hall School and Roy Thompson Hall's 'Save the Music' program. After graduating from college I joined the Peace Corps. I spent 2 years in Tehran, Iran playing in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. I returned to the U.S. and went back to school to get my Masters degree. I worked as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y. for several years. After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. The studio eventually shut down and I began teaching Band at the Stamford Public Schools where I taught music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Read More
