For beginner students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book. For more advanced students I love using Rochut Melodious Etudes and Arban's Method book. For all students, learning and being comfortable with all scales and keys is an essential fundamental skill I teach. All my students learn a solid foundation while facilitating room for individuality and creativity. I like to teach one on one with all age groups. I start beginners out on basic methods books to understand them instrument that they are holding and then slowly ease them into more challenging and sophisticated repertoire, including Rochut Etudes, Kopprasch Exercises, Blazhevich, and Blume. In a student's early development I like to introduce solo repertoire and gradually (throughout high school years) introduce a repertoire of Sonatas, Concerti, and excerpts to them. Read More

To set realistic goals based on their own ability in addition to the time they have to devote to the trombone. I may occasionally talk about other interest the student may outside of music such as football, baseball, tennis ect. to keep the setting relaxed and comfortable.
