In the summer of 2006 Mr. Eichelberger was asked to serve as the Assistant Director of Bands and Music Arranger at his alma mater Miami Carol City Senior High. In April of 2007 Mr. Eichelberger was asked to serve as the Interim Director of Bands at Miami Carol City Senior High after the Promotion of Fedrick C. Ingram to Secretary/Treasurer of United Teachers of Dade. I believe that each student has their own specific musical journey, and it is important to set realistic, attainable goals that help move that journey along at the student's specific pace. In the first lesson, I assess the student's current ability and also discuss the student's personal goals and interests in music. Based on this information, I create a daily fundamentals routine for the student to use to improve the basic building blocks of playing a musical instrument. I also allow students to bring in music that interests them from solo material and pieces of music from band class. Approximately half of the weekly lesson is spent on fundamental materials that I assign weekly, and the other half is spent on the student's chosen material. Read More

In 2009, Dan was selected as bass trombonist for the Carnegie Hall Orchestral Winds seminar where he collaborated with the principals from the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, and Philadelphia Orchestra. He has performed with professional ensembles such as Harrisburg Symphony, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and the Gaylen Jeter Jazz Orchestra. For beginner students use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements 2000 method books. These books offer a very detailed and easy fundamental based method to start beginners off on the right foot. These books also utilize simple and recognizable melodies to aid in the student’s learning. For adults, I like to use the Rubank Methods, starting with the Rubank Elementary Method. These books provide a very strong focus in fundamentals for those who are slightly more advanced. Read More
