I'm an educator and performer born and raised in the Boulder area. I graduated with High Honors from CU-Boulder in Jazz Performance, though I love playing all styles from Pop to Classical to Avant-Garde and Electroacoustic music. I've had opportunities to perform at the Telluride Jazz Festival, Dazzle, Nocturne, the Mercury Cafe, Berklee College of Music and numerous other jazz clubs and halls. I have taught instrumental music in public schools for 5 years which has included teaching grades 5-12 in subjects such as beginning band, beginning orchestra, intermediate band, intermediate orchestra, marching band, percussion ensembles, and small group/individual instruction. Music, at its most basic, should be fun, and I try to impart that to my students. Lessons with me involve jokes, fun music, and taking our music making to the extreme. In addition, I strive to teach music as a language; learning it both aurally and visually, developing an ear for music and self-evaluation while learning to read the notes on the page.
