I believe that something valuable can be learned from any single piece of music. Etude books, like Voxman's Selected Studies, and Rochut's Melodious Etudes are my go to for daily practice, but are not the only option available. I have always loved teaching. I taught martial arts for several years, and I have also taught private lessons for most of my college career. I think that there are fundamentals that are necessary to brass playing, and that if you work to build those fundamentals then you can be successful in any playing situation. In essence, my love of teaching stems from my Mom's love of teaching. She sincerely desired to teach my siblings and myself to pursue our highest dreams. It turned out that I did succeed as a star performer in music, on stages around the world. But also, when I decided to settle down, I added education to my 10-year plan. Building a solid method approach for every student is essential to the students success. I choose a custom approach for each student, because each student is unique. There are many overlaps to my approach for each students lesson plan, however every lesson needs to be altered a little, since some students struggle in areas where others might succeed. I was approached my several parents and music directors to give lessons. As a teacher, I try to remove any road blocks a student is having by developing well rounded musician.
