While there, I studied saxophone, cello, double bass, and voice. I continued to major in music throughout high school. Igor performed at jazz festivals in Ljubljana, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Csfero, at major jazz clubs in New York including the Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, Supper Club, Birdland; and venues all over the world with such jazz legends as Reggie Workman, John Abercrombie, Chico Hamilton. In 2011 I was commissioned to create a piece for a closure of European Capital of Culture. With multimedia artist Zeljka Blaksic he created Resistance of the Earth, which is a multimedia project that combines several artistic genres; from video, performance, 16 mm film to live music. I then continue my studies at the Verona Conservatory with Barry Harris, at the American School of Modern Music in Paris with Johnny Griffin and Charles Lloyd, at the "GB Martini" Music Conservatory in Bologna with Barend Middelhoff and Tomaso Lama, as well as with Tom Kirkpatrick and Bob Franceschini.  Later I moved to The Hague, in the Netherlands, where I attended the Royal Conservatory (Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag) learning from musicians like Toon Roos, Eric Gieben, Erik Ineke, Rolf Delfos, Gwilym Simcock, Dave Glasser, Dave Libman, and Joshua Redman. Comprehensive method individually structured for each student.  Books depending on level and age start with Standard of Excellence and are individually chosen to support the student. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My teaching takes the form of private lessons on flute, clarinet, and saxophone, and courses at NYU. In each educational situation, I aim to establish clear goals and assignments, build confidence through positive reinforcement, and explain concepts in an engaging manner appropriate to each student. I enjoy teaching students with diverse learning goals and strengths and learning about the unique ways every student connects with music intellectually and emotionally.
