Each student learns at his or her own pace, and as a result I dislike forcing all students into the same step-by-step regimen. I find that laying out preplanned expectations and milestones at the outset is often more for the teachers benefit than the students. Since 2009, I worked with a distinguished Professor Mate Bekavac on specialized approaches to the standards of music pedagogy. As a result, I have developed a teaching method, which combines ‘awareness instruction method’, with basic teachings in music. In 2009, she was accepted in the Master of Music, performance division, at the Boston Universitys College of Fine Arts under the tutelage of flutist Linda Toote. In the summer of 2011, she participated in Trevor Wyes master class Preparing for Employment where she had an opportunity to work extensively with this world-class flutist. In them, I teach students about different words one uses to write about music (timbre, tempo, etc). I'm a recent transplant to Brooklyn, NY after spending seven wonderful years studying and working in Boston! Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I first learned piano, then added saxophone, clarinet, flute, and bass in my middle and high school years. I went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and a Master's degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston.
