I am an avid music lover, performer, and teacher. I was lucky to study piano from a young age and have the amazing pre-collegiate experiences of appearing on MTV's Made and opening for the likes of McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, and Bela Fleck. As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music. If my students do not leave every lesson feeling inspired, encouraged, and wanting to practice and play music, then I am not doing my job. For clarinet and saxophone students enrolled in school programs, I generally teach from their school method books, supplementing with standard methods like Rose, Baermann, and Rubank.  I encourage interested students to study solo or chamber repertoire of their choice, allowing them to explore the music that interests them most.     For beginning piano students, I almost always use the Faber Piano Adventures series. I find that it lays a great foundation for both students who want to pursue classical piano and those who might be more pop oriented, and the material is musically engaging and enjoyable to play and listen to.
