My teaching method varies from student to student. I strive to find the best possible approach for teaching each individual. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials as needed. I also welcome students to bring in and learn music they have heard somewhere else that inspires them. Read More

For my brass students I use exercises from the greatest brass instructors and players to have ever live: Gordon, Dr. Colins, Arban, and Clark. For wood wind students: Kevnitt, Rubank's, and Schlossberg For Piano Student: Hanon, Simon, and Alfred's Teaching Method AND MANY MORE!! In addition, my students work on solos and pieces of music of their choosing. I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. Often I will ask my students to listen to the song that they are working on or watch the movie or tv show it comes from because it is important to hear and see the bigger picture. Read More

I'm a passionate teacher that expects the best from his students. But at the same time I want my students to enjoy the music they are creating. In 2008, I graduated from the University of Illinois with a BM in Jazz Performance/Saxophone Performance. I have been fortunate to travel and play in 105 countries all over the world playing at many jazz festivals and concert halls. While traveling I was also asked to speak at schools as well as many top Universities in France, England, China, and the Philippines. Read More

Especially for young people, maintaining interest and ensuring that they continue to see the value of their musical education is essential. I remember a very frank conversation with my mother when at 13 I wanted to give up music to play football, and I blame that on the style of teaching I was receiving. Whilst there is stuff not to like about instrumental learning - for some it's scales, for me it was sight reading - the satisfaction comes from masterng these challenges, and if we can keep these short and long term goals relevant to the student, getting the practice hours done may be a litte easier on everyone! I am new to teaching, though I have had success dabbling in teaching in the past. When I was in high school I coached middle school saxophone students and successfully prepared them for their biannual jazz concert. My experience, however, is as an all-around musician. I have been studying music for 18 years and I have been trained in classical, jazz and many other genres. I have recorded on three studio albums and performed countless shows. Read More

I love seeing my students grow in their knowledge and appreciation of music! Excellence is rewarding, and I teach the process to get there from whatever level we begin. I use positive reinforcement and notice what the student is doing right. Then, I give critique and an action plan to improve performance. It feels good for the student and teacher when they learn the methods to break down what is currently difficult into smaller pieces so that it is both manageable and possible to go further than they thought.
