Hello! I am a driven, passionate, and adaptable music educator. I just graduated with my bachelors in K-12 music education from Eastern Michigan University. I have studied the saxophone as my primary instrument for over 10 years now. I have taught a various range of ages and abilities for saxophone, clarinet, piano, and more! I believe that every child deserves a quality music education. Music is such a special experience that helps people grow in multiple areas. Read More

Having at least some goal in mind and working towards that musical goal will help a student achieve success in whatever they put forth on their instrument of choice as well as music as a whole. It will be ultimately extremely satisfying to express feelings through the notes as we take them from on the page to in the air. Sharing this joy of music will be also undeniably rewarding from student to student as well as performer to audience. Read More

I am a friendly, calm teacher which is my style. I motivate my students a lot but do it in a positive way. All my students understand that they ultimately decide whether not they will have success or not, no one else. It is my job to guide you and to give you advice, but in the end the student must be the one who does the work. Students who think in this way usually do have the most success. Read More

My style of teaching is based in milestone achievements. We determine the players current level and identify their goals. Once I have an idea of what the student wants to accomplish it becomes easy to customize a plan for each student's development. Once the student has demonstrated that he or she is practicing independently and making forward progress with the lessons, I add more complex musical arrangements to further improve reading and technique. One of things I that I find discouraging is when teachers stick with one method. Every student is different! As a result, my method of teaching very much depends on the student. If I have a student who is struggling with fundamentals, then we will focus on fundamentals. If I have a student who is struggling with articulations, then we will focus on articulations in lessons. My lessons are very much tailored to the wants and needs of the students. Read More

My teaching style is laid back with the full intention of moving forward in both technique and enjoyment. Each Lesson is geared toward the Goals we agree on as Student and Teacher. Depending on age and experience, I set goals at 3 months or 6 months. It is crucial to allow the student to learn at his or her own rate. Again, I strive to find the Creativity in the Student and to see how that can be developed as quickly as possible, especially if they are interested in songwriting, singing, composition, or simply doing their "own thing". Each student learns differently and has trouble with differnt things, therefore I adapt the way I teach a student based on their needs, learning style and skill level. What the student is interested in is also very important in order to keep the student engaged. Most topics can be taught using various types of music that the student is interested in. Read More
