We are a concert band with current and retired music teachers, current and retired army musicians, amateur musicians, or even side musicians in our local area called the Illinois Valley. We rehearsed a couple days of the week to go over new music. A lot of the concerts we sight read music without even looking at it once. Instead of thinking of my role as a director who prescribes a set path, I like to think of private lessons as an opportunity for partnership, where I play the role of facilitator. In 2010, I graduated from VanderCook College of Music with a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have played in a variety of instrumental ensembles on different instruments, from euphonium, trombone, marimba and drum-set to name a few. I am motivated to helping people accomplish their goal of learning their instrument.
