But I will be working with them to establish a routine that will work in their favor as a musician. I like to let students come to their own conclusions about things I like to just show a student the way. For a first timer i typically would relate with the student so as to connect with the basis for their interest in learning the musical instrument. Different students have different levels of perception or assimilation. This i establish before i even start the introductory class proper. Then i go through the fundamentals with the student, and observe their progress along the way. Based on skill level, all lessons are geared toward progressing to a goal that the student sets while setting individual milestones. I choose a method book that is most appropriate for the student. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps.
